Hi!
I have used PRO-II, ASPEN and HYSYS.
PRO-II
- The solver is not robust.
- The GUI is not that good.
- The property prediction of crude is also not very accurate.
I have to use it as my company has been using it for years and has customized model compatible with PRO-II/Provision.
ASPEN
- Solver is quite robust
- Has EO as well as SM mode for problems that are difficult to converge.
- Sometimes may not be that simle to specify things in ASPEN.
- Has the biggest component databank.
This is my preffered simultion software.
HYSYS
- Solves on the fly.
- Can solve in the backward direction also.
- GUI is very good.
- Solver has problems with flowsheet that has several recycles.

My 2 cents worth-
PRO-II seems to be commonly used in refining,
ASPEN seems to be commonly used in chemicals, and
HYSYS seems to be commonly used in oil & gas production.
There are not hard & fast boundaries. I assume the reason for the above is some combination of suitability and cost. I am most familiar with Pro2, and like it fine. I don't like it when I'm forced to use Hysys, but it's more an issue of familiarity rather than capability.

Hi ,
I am working for a simulation model for aquous ammonia absorption system. Can anybody help me on this : how to start it and to establish the simulation. I have PFD and mass balance and some working experience in such system.
Kind regards,
Satyajit

Hello
I am new to this site and to Hysys. I am also looking for the same topic Ammonia absorption for refrigeration
I would like to ask how to put mixer or absorber for absorbing ammonia vapours in water. Have you started your simulation ? please help if you have any info.
Regards
HK

Dear Participants,
Is there any one who knows how i can link my own model developed in Fortran with PROII by using user added subroutine
If somone have any information let me know at hamid01m213@gmail.com
