Dear all,

I am having some confusion in defining composition in HYSYS.

Please see the client information below

Max oil production 44mbpd

water production 9.9 mbpd

Max gas production 48.4 mmscdf

Design GOR 1.1 mscfd/bbl

FPSO crdue arrival conditions 21barg@23 to 50C

Composition of Decanes+ 241kg/kg mole , 907.9kg/m3 at 15.5C

Componenet mole%

water 0

oxygen 0

N2 0.01

CO2 0.31

H2S 0

CH4 47.45

C2H6 4.61

C3H8 4.12

I-BUTANE 0.99

n-BUTANE 2.41

I-PENTANE 1.2

n-PENTANE 1.2

HEXANE 1.77

HEPTANE 3.9

OCTANE 5.08

NONANES 3.6

DECANES+ 23.35

TOTAL 100

THe crude composition is given in dry basis and i am facing some difficulty in doing simulation.

I came to know it can be done by below options

) Simulate arrival condition by input dry composition and setting arrival conditions

ii) Saturate dry composition with H2O without affecting the arrival condition

iii) Adjust gas, condensate and PW flows to provided value

iv) Mix them togehter and this will be your feed stream.

For the first time I am doing oil and gas simulation and unfortunately I do not have any guidance in my company. Please somebody help me how to carryout simulation in order to get composition for oil ,gas and water.

Please help me.

Dear all ,

For the above problem what I did is I staurated the dry gas with water and then i fed to 3phase separator for getting gas,oil and water composition.

I got one doubt that stauration of dry gas to be done at crude arrival condition or at standard conditions that is 14.7psi and 60F.

As per the client PFD ,It got 2 3phase separators.

While doing simulation I fed feed to 1st 3phase separator and the oil outlet stream fed to 2nd 3phase separator.Whatever water present in the main feed is completely getting separated in the 1st 3phase separator and no water comes to the 2nd 3phase separator.

I am bit confused about this. Please somebody help me.

Dear Murali,

Per your problem statement, you are stating that gas, oil and water production rate as

Max oil production 44mbpd
water production 9.9 mbpd
Max gas production 48.4 mmscdf

Above tells me that your feed will contains 44 mbpd of oil, 9.9 mbpd of water and 48.4 mmscfd at the arrival condition. So you should saturate the dry composition at arrival condition. (Actually it doesn't really matter you sat. at STD or PT, ultimately your feed should contains 9.9 mbpd of water at arrival conditions. You may check yourself)

The 1st 3-phase separator will separate gas, oil and water. However, there may be some separation deficiency of the 1st separator especially during pigging, some water i.e. 5% by Vol will be carried over to 2nd 3-phase separator and the water will be separated here. Simulation showed perfect oil-water separation at 1st 3-phase separator, hence you noticed NO water present in 2nd separator.

Hope this help.
