Hi all,
i built a hysys simulation case for a turbine driven compressor we have. the compressor is a multistage compressor but with one barrel.
i have done the tubine side and linked it to the compressor, however, i need some guidelines on what to expect and what normally not accounted for in the thermodynamics part
some of the things i thought of are
1. mechanical losses, i put 3.5% of trubine power
2. thermal losess, from trubine side, no clue but i guess very small
3. flow losses cusing pressure drop in the tubine/compressor steam gas flows
4....
the reson i made the simulaiton is that i have doubts on the gas flow side, the indication is much lower than the hysys simulation and i guess i may forgot few thingsalon the way in hysys. i need to verify the gas flow by simulation first.
the compressor is a 20 MMSCFH capacity with 2230 pressure running hydrogen and 300 psi dp.
turbine is 525 psig steam with 710 f and 10,000 rpm speed
thanks for your help,
cheers,

Dear,
It is not possible to calculate the power of turbine if the exhaust is vacuum.Around 5-14% of the exhuast is wetness fraction.
In this case, get your gas flow calibrated calculate the power of compressor, deduct the coupling loss and use it for turbince power.

thanks for your help,
acutally the turbine is noncondensing type, so the steam at the exit is superheated.
cheers,
