For hydrotreater, operating at around 112 kg/cm2 pressure with feed containing ~1.8-2.0 % Sulphur, out gassing procedure requires raising of temperature to 270 deg C under N2 atmosphere until H2 vol% is <2.0 % and subsequent cooling at ~ 30 kg/cm2 pressure prior to manentry/catalyst replacement.

Q1 : Whether outgassing is absolutely essential considering the latest API guidelines

Q2 : What, if , temperature is first reduced under H2 atmosphere from 112 kg/cm2 to 30 kg/cm2 (fulfilling MPT criteria) and evacuation/purge method is then adopted with N2 for removing H2 from system. This would reduce turn around time considerably.
