Mido:

This question is so similar to the queries we recieve in the Student Forum, that is probably belongs there. The nature of the question is directed to SUBJECTIVE responses. How can such a response be of any help when the responder doesn't know any details about what is confronting you.

What is best for YOU can only be decided by YOU. You know all the facts, background, details, and other pertinent information (or you should) - so you are the only qualified judge.

We can't play the role of prophets. Engineers can only have credible and positive opinions and comments when we have all the facts and details. This Forum isn't big enough to allow a discussion of everything that comes into play in such a personal decision. There are no equations, theories, or algorithms devised or fomulated to obtain the decision you want.

Sorry.

Whatever you choose, it will be as good or as bad - it depends only on you. Both refinery and gas plant offer a plenty of space for professional improvement and learning, on a day-to-day basis. This is the most important thing. You will not loose anything if you decide to go for one option, or another. Don't let yourself to be swallowed by daily routine, get as much knowledge as you can - you do not choose this location forever. Take the best of all things you can learn in any environment, and later you can always switch between different professional directions. Neither refinery, nor gas plant will make you a good or bad engineer. This is only a matter of your will and attitude.

Best of luck,
