Dear All,

Can any one explain to me the following problems:
  1. What is the Burner tip pressure?
  2. How to calculate Critical velocity for burner?
  3. what is the effect of high pressure on burner tip?
  4. Is there any problem if FG pressure keep hi?

I would be very thank full if some one could post some link or attachment for John Zink burners.

Thanks
Toor

Toor,

If you have flare tip in your flare system, in many cases, the burner tip information will be furnished by flare tip vendor.

Flare tip can be a designed in many ways. Example are pipe flare, multi-finger pipeflare, tulip type, sonic tip, etc. The calculation is very design orientated.

Toor,

It will be better if you can tell us your application for which the queries are asked.

For a fired heater , Boiler kind of application where conventional burners are used the fuel gas pressure at burner inlet is normally referred as tip pressure in conventional terms ( not exactly at burner gas tip which is located inside the boiler / heater at the end of gas gun ) . The effect of high gas pressure at tip or burner inlet is that the gas flow will be more for the gun reflecting in higher heat release , typically this is how the firing rate is controlled (by increasing the gas pressure at burner ) .

If you can post details of your application we can help you more in this regard.

Vinay
