Dear Engineer's

I want to know about calculation of heat loss in Storage tank. Is there any special procedure or article about it?

Our product is Sulphur, and product stored temperature is 135 C, and available utility id LP steam with temperature about 150 C.

Hi,

Check out this useful vendor information for tank heating losses:

this's about concept.

1. we devide the heat loss into 4 parts: ground, roof, wet wall and dry wall.

2. define wind velocity

3. search about fluid and air properties

4. find inside and outside heat transfer coefficients in all parts

5. find overall heat tranfer coefficient in all parts

6. Get heat loss !!!!

Good luck

Mohammad:

Before you give up on a specific reference for calculating heat loss from a storage tank, try looking for the article "Predict storage-tank heat transfer precisely", by Jimmy Kumana and Samir Kothari, that appeared in the March 1982 issue of Chemical Engineering magazine. I highly recommend you try to obtain a copy of this excellent treatise on the very specific subject you are looking at.

Mohammad:

Although I have a copy of the article, I don't have Chemical Engineering Magazine permission to copy this copyrighted item and distribute it.

However, you can look for back issues, either in your local technical libraries or through the internet. I know that there are several literature searching websites that dedicate themselves to retrive and sell you copies of back issues. I strongly believe that this article details out the specific subject you are interested in and would resolve your problem(s).

I hope this helps.

I personally have good experiences with the Linda Hall Library, just make a document delivery request on http://www.lindahall...ery/index.shtml
