Dear Masters..,

I am studying of how to build a P&ID.
I've noticed that in vessel nozzle, Weld Neck Raised Face (wnrf) is always use for rating <900#, meanwhile RTJ is used for rating >900#.

Can somebody help me to find the answer of why? Thanks a lot.

As far as i know,in PID development it is usually no need to specify the flange facing.

Normally flat face flange is used in water industry, raised face class 150#,300#,600# in oil and gas industry, and RTJ class 900# and more in oil and gas industry.

Using RTJ flange in class 900# and more relates to higher reliability of these type against leakage in high pressure service.
