Re:     Acrylic Acid Process Unit 300

Enclosed is an analysis of the economics and design of the proposed acrylic acid process. Recommended process improvements include replacing the current exchanger E-301 with a waste heat boiler to produce LPS in the salt loop. The acrylic acid cooling loop should be replaced with a process water injection system, another waste heat boiler, and a flash vessel. These changes, coupled with individual equipment optimization will result in a Net Present Value (NPV) of $211 million after 10 years of plant operation. This design shows an improvement of $54 million over the current design which has a NPV of $157 million after 10 years of operation.
