The following report was composed by myself during my senior year at West Virginia University. It is entitled, Acrylic Acid Process Unit 300. The purpose was to make design improvements and optimizations to a base case design of an acrylic acid process unit. I would like to take this opportunity to point out that this report is most likely not mistake free, but I (and the faculty as West Virginia University) believe that this represents a well developed design report. Please keep in mind that this report belongs to me. I have displayed it here as a reference or model for others constructing similar reports. If you have any questions about calculations or other aspects of the report, please email me. If there is significant interest, I would considered publishing the appendix of calculations here as well. I have also included a Word 6.0/97 file of this project completed by one of my classmates. This is to ensure an unbiased view of the project. Studying both should help you learn that there are many ways to think about a problem and many ways to solve a problem.
