My question may seem impractical, but need help to avoid any confusion.

What is the limit of Chemical Oxygen demand of boiler feed water?

In IS 10496:1983, other parameters like hardness, alkalinity,pH,TDS, Silica, ammonia, iron, copper, dissolved oxygen are given but COD limit is not specified.

If recycle water has low COD up to 50 ppm, can we recycle it?

Hi,

I am working on design of new multipurpose solvent recovery batch distillation column.

For same I have two options:

1) Sheetmetal packing (Equivalent to sulzer Mellapak plus 452Y)

2) Wiremesh packing (Equivalent to sulzer BX)

No of theoretical stages available with above packings will be 60. (=12 mtr packed ht x 5 NTSM)

Most of the streams are non aqueous (containing 1-3% maximum water content), hence I prefer to go with sheetmetal packing instead of wiremesh for cost saving purpose.

Can anyone please help me to select from above two packing types?
