Could anybody tell me about recent developments in packed and plate columns for gas/liquid separation?
I am a final year student undertaking a literature review and would be very grateful if anybody could tell me how to go about completing this report.
what needs to be included in the review?
does anybody have any opinions or ideas for future developments in this area?

You could start by searching the net for the relevant key words and see what you turn up. You might find a recent review of the technology so that you can avoid reinventing the wheel.
Look at the websites of column internals vendors such as Koch-Glitsch, Sulzer, Norton, (can't think of others on the spot) and look at their latest gee-whiz products.
Trawl through Fractionation Research, which is the industry recognised holder of the body of knowledge in the area, so you might be able to get some pointers from any documentation that they provide to the public domain.
Given that you're a student, you'll have access to a plethora of technical journal databases. Do appropriate keyword searches and see what you find.
