Hi Everyone,

I need to perform a flash calculation to estimate quantities that will go into vapour phase from liquid phase. I have water and contaminates in it like H2,H2S,C3,C4,C5,C6+. Please advise correct thermodynamic model for Aspen Plus/Aspen Hysis.

Regards.

Hi,

Actually water is about 99.0 % and rest is contaminants. I am not sure whether peng robinson is a correct model . Please advise.

Regards.

You do not specify operating temperature and pressure,  Without these it is difficult to propose a suitable model,

For near atm conditions you may adopt a simple model starting, for example, from some equilibrium constants (i.e. H2S in water etc. solubility).  For higher pressures a EOS with complex mixing rules should do the work,

Predictive EOS models may be considered, too.  I use a different software (PRODE PROPERTIES) and I

do not know the models available in Aspen.  However, the above should provide reasonable results.

For flash calculation, besides composition you have to have pressure and temperature. Peng & Robinson is okay.
