Dear experts,

Please I have two questions:

1-For varaible speed centrifugal pumps, could you confirm that there's no nedd to have minimum flow recycle and PSLL and PSHH at suction and discharge?

2-I have transfer pumps transfering water from a water storage tank to water injection pumps (installed nearby injection wellhead) via 3 km flowline. Could both pumps, transfer and injection,be variable speed pumps? The transfer pumps are controlled by the level in the tank and injection pumps are controlled by the flow in the flowline?

Please advice

asseddick ,

1) a VSD is having the same function than a control valve i.e reduce or increase the flow rate .Of course the pump still needs to operate at a rate equal or above the minimum flow to prevent overheating and damage . You should consult vendor for the minimum flow rate or take a look at the pump data sheet.

Regarding the pump suction , it must be Flooded otherwise risk of vapor lock

Hope this helps
