Hi Bobby, The supplier provided me one of the results below but didn't explain the calculations as they got calculations done by a third party. I want to understand how did they calculate that 1.4 μm particles will remain in the bowl and smaller will be decanted out. Once I understand it, I'll change the feed rates, bowl speed and total solids to find the best operating conditions. Thanks
Proposed average feed rate 700 l/hr * 0.775 kg/l = 542.5 kg/hr
Solids rate 54.2 kg/hr @10% solids by weight
Capacity of 1 x 630 BK = 700 l * 5 hrs = 3500 litres suspension
Result: Particles larger than 1.4 μm remain in the bowl
(Background: IsoparM solvent is used in cleaning the reactors after every batch which gets contaminated with polymer product. The solids particles from product takes too long (days) for sedimentation and we want to speed up the process by using centrifugal separation. Currently, the IBCs of contaminated solvent are kept aside for few days until the solvent from top can be skimmed off using a pump. Isopar M is one of the raw materials of product and therefore used to avoid any issue of contamination.)
