N2 + O2 <--> NOx
Understand that, Nitrogen, Oxygen & NOx is in equilibrium under certain temperature. When the temperature increase, the equilibrium shift towards NOx, thus generating more NOx. (eg. in combustion chamber)
Question: will NOx form back Nitrogen and Oxygen when flue gas been cool down?

Question: will NOx form back Nitrogen and Oxygen when flue gas been cool down?

NOx will shift back towards oxygen and nitrogen as temperature drops. This reverse reaction is called NOx Relaxation. The problem is that even though the equilibrium is favorable, the reaction proceeds very slowly. Situation is not much different than if you approximated that the reverse reaction does not occur at all. Of course, if you add the proper catalyst and apply the right conditions, you can decompose the NOx.
