for example, the conversion for each reaction (including side reaction),

basically, if you want to know all the material balance (with reaction ) in hysys, the first step is you have to input all the components (including inert ), although you just want MGP,second step, you must write down all the reaction including the side reaction, third, what the informations that you have for calculating the reaction (for calculating mass & heat )

actually i know the cooler can find optimum cooling water exit temperature, but how about the stem for heater?? Can it find optimum stem exit temperature??

if you try calculate the enthalpy only using MCpDT (mass, heat capacity, delta temp ), you will find that your calculation will different with hysys, and your duty calculation will also different, i suggest you to read manual hysys, how they calculate an enthalpy

What do you mean by manually calculated the exchanger duty ? if you mean here, your own manual calculation is different compare with calculation from hysys that normal (that's my opinion ), why ? duty, Q, calculation depend on entaply, Q = H2-H1, so the problem here is, how do you calculate the stream enthalpy?

it doesn't mean that, the idea within the book cannot be used for other stream such steam, the point is the book might answer your question.

that's true what have just shan said, for real life ( in chemical plant ), an optimum flow rate of steam will give a lower cost without ignoring the process it self, how ever i suggest you to read a book from Harry Silla , "chemical process engineering Design & Economic, within the book, there is a special topic that discuss about how to find an optimum Cooling water exit Temp

"for shell & tube is mixed flow, ( except 1:1 STHE ), one side counter while the other co current ( please refer to Coulson & richadson vol 6. )
for the reason above..."
Yes. That is correct. I took that approach in my solution. Thank you.
