actually i know the cooler can find optimum cooling water exit temperature, but how about the stem for heater?? Can it find optimum stem exit temperature??

it doesn't mean that, the idea within the book cannot be used for other stream such steam, the point is the book might answer your question.

that's true what have just shan said, for real life ( in chemical plant ), an optimum flow rate of steam will give a lower cost without ignoring the process it self,how ever i suggest you to read a book from Harry Silla , "chemical process engineering Design & Economic, within the book, there is a special topic that discuss about how to find an optimum Cooling water exit Temp
