Greetings. I am trying to enlighten the staff of a nonprofit organization about their use of a kitchen ventilation fan that runs constantly, 24/7, 365 days a year. It seems they are ignorant of the waste this unit is producing. I have written them with my calculations, but I am not sure if they just think I am crazy. I have calculated that this facility is wasting about 40 KWH on average year round. This results in about $10,000 per year of wasted resources. I have also proposed upgrading the fan to automatic operation, so that it would only operate when the stove/oven was producing heat. This would save immense energy and make their operation much more efficient. They seem to be in a rut, wanting only to maintain the status quo. Has anyone ever seen a situation like this? If anyone has any suggestions for me concerning this project, I would love to hear from you. Thanks. PCR
