Hi
i am currently working at a refinery. I have very little information regarding vacuum liquid ring pump so wanted know how power requirements of the pump can be estimated based on total vapor flow ??
Does it have any disadvantage as compared to steam jet ejectors???

Attached a good paper with all the info needed . BTW there is a document posted by MR Montemayor in this forum . Let you try the search Button ( top right corner) .
One disadeantage could be the price, depending the application and the sensitivity of your process , An other one is what to do with the liquid ( dispose ).
Hope this helps

Ty for your response and a great paper. Couldn't find Mr. Montemayor's paper, though. I posted request for one in one of the topics. Thanks again

Gaurav:
A liquid ring compressor (not a PUMP) is very like a positive displacement compressor and for an estimate, I would calculate the power requirements as such. For the REAL figure on actual power consumption, however, you should always resort to the manufacturer.
Yes, there are trade offs to be expected when comparing a liquid ring to any other type of vacuum device. My workbook was developed for expounding exactly that type of predicament. The fluid selected as the "ring" fluid plays a significant role in the application.
I have supplied hundreds of copies of my workbook, "Producing and Maintaining a Vacuum" in the past and I honestly have not had the time or opportunity to keep it up-dated. It is available for uploading in one of our threads in the Forums. I forget which thread. Nevertheless, I am once more attaching a copy of the workbook for whoever has need of it or is too lazy to look for it.
I hope it helps you out.
