Are we supposed to know what you are referring to? I don't believe so.

Please define what you mean by "dry H2S environment". As chemical engineers what we try to avoid at all costs is ANY H2S environment - where humans are concerned.

You have to be more specific in your query, in order to receive any meaningful comments from members of this forum.

If you refer to Material Selection issues, having dry H2S relaxes your choice of plant equipment/piping metalurgy since there is no aqueous phase present in the system to promote/accelerate corrosion. If this was your original question, then there is no special code defining dry H2S environment, and it is logical to be that way: water dew point will depend on water partial pressure and gas capability to keep water in the vapor phase. You have to calculate yourself whether there will be any water condensation inside the system, at given temperature/pressure profiles and stream composition.

I am trying to conduct fatigue testing in H2S environments and amongst other I also have do it in dry H2S. I have problems finding standards or codes that define what dry H2S environment means/is.

I would say this might concur with what I have written in my previous post: an environment where there is no possibility of aqueous phase formation. But you certainly need much better description than what has been given in this thread.

Usually when talking about H2S the reference standard is the ISO 15156 / NACE 0175 or the MR0103, but these standards refere to a sour environment that is defined as H2S + water. If it's dry there should be no corrosion...
