Hi every body,
I would like to find maximum allowable velocity of fluid in pipe and different equipments. I need to know the values and refrence of this values.
which standard explain about maximum allowable velocity of fluid in pipe and different equipments such as heat exchanger, drums and ....
regards.

I think what you're trying to get at is maximum ECONOMICAL velocity, there is no one standard which will describe this, each engineering contractor will have a different set of guide velocities depending on how they weigh up Operational (i.e. higher pumping power) and Capital (i.e. cost of buying bigger pipes). If you're dealing with VHP steam you will tolerate much pressure drop/100m than say the overheads of a column.
For drums similarly you use the Souders-Brown equation to determine a velocity, but then different companies will use a different K value depending on how comfortable they are with pushing equipment to the limit.
In exchangers maximum shell velocity may be to avoid vibrational issues, but I do not have much expertise in this area.

Dear,
For allowable fluid velocities through pipe refer Crane and for equipments like HE refer TEMA guidelines and for other equipments use relevant study material.

Dear, you have already got many useful and much applicable replies on you very generalized type query.
I first of all regret your query has some details missing especially your intent or real problem or objective goal in clear terms.
If you are kind enough to tell us explicitly in clear words may be forum colleagues can provide greater accuracy focused help.
Since there are many aspect to the flow of fluids (liquids or gases) and in certain non conductive liquids velocities are reduced to avoid static charge accumulations, whereas in certain cases velocities are kept higher to avoid precipitation or trickling out possibilities.
Sometimes turbulent flow is desired and sometimes avoided, therefore you should better be specific.
I hope this is indeed helpful in getting to way forward.

thank you for your notations.
i'm sorry for my absence because i was very busy.
i'm trying to provide a technical paper of allowable velocity in different conditions and kinds of process equipment.
i studied some handbooks such as piping handbook, natural gas processing etc. and some information have provided.
i introduce this post that i request experiences of others.
if any body can please help me.
Sincerely yours.
