Dear all,

Im doing this simulation of biodiesel production using HYSYS. However, I get stuck in the methanol recovery distillation column, I get glycerol instead of methanol after distillation which enable me to conduct the methanol recovery. Can anyone kindly enlighten me about it? your help is much appreciated.

Hey there,

I took a quick look and quickly fixed it for you. Your methanol stream is now 99.999% pure per mass basis.

If it is economical or not I don't know you have to find that out for yourself hehe.

I cannot upload this file for you so please send me your email and I'll email it to you. Otherwise here is what you have to do:

Delete all specs except distillate rate and reflux ratio.

Spec as follows:

Reflux ratio: 2
Distillate Rate 0.2701 kgmol/hr

That is all.

Have any of you finished the biodiesel plant design?. I am stucked also trying to solve the transesterification reaction. (NaOH/Methanol/triolein)
