Hi,
I would like to seek for an advice regarding the maximum flow rate input in ASPEN HTFS Design + for Plate Heat Exchanger (PHE).
Our existing PHE has a design specs of 8,000,000 kg/hr of Cooling Water (being the hot side) and 10,928,800 kg/hr (being the cold side).
We are currently evaluating our PHE for a possible nth number of plates addition but the Aspen HTFS has a maximum of 7,000,000 kg/hr of inlet flow rate only.
Any idea?

Split the flows into several units operating in parallel. That's how it is normally done: both in software and in the real plant.

Thank you Zauberberg, I got it. We have three PHEs in parallel so the 8,000,000 kg/hr of Cooling Water (hot side) and 10,928,800 kg/hr of Sea water (cold side) could be divided into 3 and the result could be used as the input value in the Aspen HTFS+ to evaluate our PHEs individually.
2,666,667 kg/hr for Cooling Water return and 3,642,933 kg/hr for the Sea Water.
Again, Thanks Zauberberg...

Since the vendor(s) will have to verify your design in any case, I wouldn't bother that much about the number of exchangers in service. Specifying total flowrates, inlet conditions, allowable pressure drop for both sides, and any additional data that might help the vendor to come up with robust design solution - these are the mandatory items. Considering the fact that you have Sea Water as one of the process fluids, for example, deserves a special attention.
Good luck,
Good luck,
