I am dealing with a problem of improving vacuum in surface condenser of turbine. we have a partially extraction cum partially condensation turbine. While design exhaust pressure is 0.13 ATA, present value possible is 0.20 ATA. Here is the system in which Vacuum ejector system is in operation with the condensed steam from turbine itself acting as cooling media(generally at 60 DEG C) for ejectors. We have already checked all the flanges, joints for leakages in shut down. The condenser is also hydro blasted three months back.I am thinking of adding additional vacuum pump for increasing vacuum to say 0.1 ATA. will this scenario work out, & how to calculate the pump capacity for pulling the extra vacuum. the condenser is operating at 22 MT/HR condensing load. Any ideas regarding this are welcome,Thanks for your Attention!

You have to help US out, if you are expecting us to help YOU. You have not given us any necessary basic data to base ourselves on in trying to help you. For example:
- Is this a RECENT problem? If so, when did it start? If not, what are the design conditions for this turbine system? How long has this turbine system been working? Has it ever worked according to design?
- What is the cooling medium in the steam condenser and its inlet and outlet temperatures? Has the cooling medium temperatures, pressures, and flow rates been the same during design operation and during the bad operation?
- Was the condenser system designed and furnished by the steam turbine manufacturer? If not, who designed it?
- Was the vacuum system designed and furnished by the steam turbine manufacturer? If not, who designed it?
- Please supply a schematic drawing showing how the turbine is hooked up and the temperatures and pressures of the steam, cooling medium and the vacuum system.
