Dear all,

I need help to estimate capital cost of plate-fin heat exchanger for cryogenic plant.
I know there is a handbook: "Selection and costing of heat exchangers. plate-fin type" ESDU 97006.
ISBN 978 1 008 86 246

Please if anyone has this guide in hand, I would appreciate a lot you can share with me giving me to know how to make rough estimates of the cost of capital for this type of heat exchanger.

Thak you very much

JOACO:

This is a professional engineers' section of our Forums so I presume you are a practicing professional and not a student looking for an estimate to use on an academic assignment.

I would not place any faith or credance on a text books (or booklet) estimate of a cryogenic heat exchanger. This type of equipment is too specific and special in many ways that are numerous and difficult to itemize here. Even when given a date basis for the estimate (rarely done), the estimate often is not specific to application and construction - which affects the cost.

What I recommend you do is pick up the phone and get in contact with a pre-selected supplier of this equipment and request an estimate from there. Any serious or worthwhile supplier of cryogenic exchangers would be more than willing to work with you on this type of request.

Art is correct. Based on my experience, people from CHART, LINDE, and Kobe Steel will be at your service if you provide them with exchanger datasheet(s).

I am a graduate in chemical engineering.
As thesis work, I am evaluating the feasibility of building a cryogenic plant in my country. That is the reason for my question.

your help was very hepful, thank you very much.
