Hi,
I am a currently 4th yr chemical engineering student. I was looking for some clarification on the use of dense or dilute pneumatic conveyors. I looking to transfer a very viscous/paste like substance over a horizontal length of 5m - 10 m and was having a few design doubts in relation to how feasible it would be. Will either of these set up with a vacuum or pressurised air set up through the pipe to carry the gel. From what I have research, wherever I have looked these systems are with powders and dense materials. I am unable to use a pump due to the very high solid content which will clog up the pump internals. Extrusion of the paste would not work either due to the material being temperature sensitive. The only other alternative is to manual transport the paste onto the next stage, however this results in uneaded handling issues and possible loss of product or contamination.
any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Have you heard of pipe belt conveyors or closed conveyor belts. They are utilized for conveying materials which are sticky and thermally sensitive and exposure to atmosphere would be detrimental to that material. Have a look at the following links. These should get you started:
