Hey,

I'm trying to use HYSYS to create a PFR for a heterogeneous catalytic reaction. This is the reaction:

Esterification of palmitic acid: CH3(CH2)14COOH + ROH ==> CH3(CH2)14COOR + H2O .

This design will use an enzyme as a catalyst. The kinetics of the enzyme follows the Michaelis-Menten kinetics for a two-substrate ping-pong mechanism:

rate = [Vmax] / [1 + (Ka/A)*(1 + B/Kib) + (Kb/(concentration of B) ] (I can't get rid of this simily face for some reason)

with the Michaelis constants Ka and Kb known. Vmax, Kib and also activation energy (Ea) is given. A and B are reactant concentrations.

I'm having trouble putting this in HYSYS since it only allows Arrhenius equation to be inputted. I have attached what I have done so far.

Thank you for your help,
Tami
