Dear Process/Safety Experts
I prefer to ignore my knowledge and ask my question as fresh point.
Becasue my experince may not correct.
Here the point:
Deluge valves are used within Water Spray System activation.
From functionality issue, they are similar with ESD Valves.
But ESD Valves all ball valve generally and are applied in process units.
Actually I need to know why we should use deluge valve for Fire Water Spray Activation. Theoritically we can use ESD (Ball Valves, Conventional) for this use.
Please share any point or document that can enrich this topic.
I try to share my points after some feedback from your side,

Ghasem

Ghasem,

ESD valves are always fail-closed.
Deluge valves are always fail-open.

Deluge valves need to be in a material suitable for raw water or sea water. They may be actuated by non-electronic signals such as a fusible plug circuit.

And one more thing - it's year 2011, not 2010 as in the title of your post.

Paul
