Hi all,

I've done the sizing of an absorber and vertical separators using HYSYS but I am a little puzzled by the sizes that I obtained.

Let me give some background to my project:
I am trying to remove CO2 from a stream using Selexol. Absorption is done in a countercurrent packed column. Aterwhich, rich selexol is regenerated via multistage flashing (i.e. 3 vertical separators in series). Regenerated Selexol is then recycled into the absorber.

The sizes of the absorber and vertical separators are as follows:
Absorber: ~220 m3
Separator 1: ~ 400 m3
Separator 2: ~ 3000 m3
Separator 3: ~ 1600 m3

I am puzzled by the sizes because my absorber which takes in the liquid and vapour stream is only 220 m3. However, the separators which only takes in the rich selexol requires sizes that is much bigger than absorber. This made me question whether I have done the sizing correctly.

Could someone pls give me some advice?
