Dear All,
I have some problem in the case of calculating the relative volatility of each component in Hysys. I do not know how to find it. This is the feed condition. Plz help me. Thanks.
Temperature: 3.2 oC
Pressure: 30 bar
Flowrate: 4285 kgmole/hr
Feed composition (mole fraction):
CO2 : 0.3641
Dimethyl ether: 0.6081
Methanol: 0.0278

I'm assuming this is in your textbook somewhere. Definition of relative volatility: alpha(i/j)=K(i)/K(j), where K=y/x, where y is the vapor composition and x is the liquid composition. So the relative volatility is readily calculated once you obtain the vapor and liquid compositions. With the information given, a flash calculation seems like the natural approach.

Really thanks a lot
