I am currently doing a preliminary study on a sulphide leaching scenario using CSTR's and have hit a bit of an obstacle. I've worked out the oxygen demand of the particular process (in L/hr) and can work out the amount of air/oxygen required.

I know the slurry composition, but what I need to find out is whether or not the amount of air required for the oxidation reaction is going to cause problems in a physical sense.

Can anyone point me to a resource (or a section in Perry's) where I can find approximate maximum aeration rates for a slurry (or even a liquid) in a CSTR before problems like frothing or agitator cavitation become problematic.

Basically what I'm after is for each litre of slurry in a CSTR what is the maximum aeration rate in L/hr. Even some typical numbers would be useful to determine if we should continue to investigate this process or move on to something else.

Thanks in advance for any answers.
