HI,

I M NEW HERE,

AS A STUDENT, I HAVE TO SIZE PRESSURE RELIEVING DEVICES. SO WHICH I USED API RP 520 or API STD 520. HOWEVER, I HAVE SEEN BOTH ROUGHLY, BUT DIDNOT UNDERSTAND THE DIFFERENCE..

CAN SOME ONE HELP ME..??
SUGGEST ME WHICH ONE I USE !!!

Surprised at your news, an explanation was found at http://webwormcpt.bl...s-released.html. According to it API STD 520 is latest, so you had better use this.
Probably you are not familiar with previous edition (API RP 520), so it will not be more difficult for you to study the new edition.
The difference between code (standard) and recommended practice (RP) is that the application of code is mandatory. This is what a German explained to us (1993), pointing out that DIN was a code. But mentioned web reference indicates that the new edition of API 520 is not (yet?) a code.
We have used API RP 520 so far, not having detected the new API STD 520. Advice on what incurred changes mean, from someone having known API STD 520 (end 2008), would be appreciated.
