Equilibrium Curve Using Hysys ?

Good evening everyone,

Our doctor asked us to design an absorber for syn-gas to absorb co2 using a solvent of our choice .. so I choose DEPG as solvent but the problem now is that i have to get the equilibrium curve for DEPG,syn-gas mixture and I don't know how ,, i asked the doctor he told us to use hysys to get it or find the curve in the literature so i chose hysys because it's easier but the problem where to go to make an equilibrium line ??

Our doctor told us to do a separator unit then put the feed and liquid and vapor , then increase the flow rate of the target to get the equilibrium line .. for example ..

our target is to recover 99% co2 from syn-gas .. so the equilibrium line was between co2,methane and DEPG .. i added the composition i got for each and assumed 1000 for DEPG , and i increased the composition of co2 in the inlet and got different liquid/vapor mole fraction of co2 .. and i constructed a table in excel and built a line .. is this really considered as equilibrium line ??

It is sometimes hard to understand exactly what it is you are looking to do. I'm sure there are many different "equilibrium lines" one could draw depending on what one wanted to do. In this case, it appears that your focus is something relating vapor composition to liquid composition, which is a common equilibrium line to draw. Not knowing exactly what you are trying to do, it is hard to say for certain, but I could certainly see a line relating y(CO2) to x(CO2) with all other variables held constant could be a useful equilibrium line to draw in this case.

I think you need to sit down and look at your problem and try to determine exactly what variables you are trying to relate when you draw this "equilibrium line."
