starter_2011,

Not many companies do offshore engineering or operations in India. ONGC, Reliance and British Gas are the operator companies in off-shore. J. Ray McDermott, Saipem, Triune, Engineers India Limited, Aker Solutions L&T-Valdel and, Worley Parsons (Hyderabad) are some of the engineering consultants in the field of offshore engineering. The engineering consultants are involved in offshore engineering not only in India but globally

You can make an attempt to enter the companies mentioned above as a Graduate Engineer Trainee if they post vacancies for GETs.

Hope this helps.

Regards,
Ankur.

Thank you for your advice.
Is there any mandatory certification courses that has to be completed to get into offshore.

How is the job nature and work atmosphere in offshore?

starter_2011,

I don't think there is any mandatory certificate course without which you are not eligible to part of any offshore engineering or operations, not at least in India.

Offshore operations is a physically demanding and tough life. All personnel in offshore operations have a rotation cycle which could be 4 weeks on -1 week off depending on the company's policy. If you are prone to sea sickness, you are advised to keep away from offshore jobs.

Regards,
Ankur.

The above companies mentioned by ankur2061 are in mazorly in offshore design(except ONGC & Reliance) not in operations..so no need to go in to the sea..
U can choose offshore desing (Process platforms, Rigs, FPSO etc.) & no need of any extra certificate for this..
Few certificate (sea survival, fire fighting, first aid, Helicopter under water scape) are needed only in offshore operation jobs.
