Dear Sir/Madam

I have to use pro II to get how much the vapor volumn will be flashed in the Tank PSV relief load case.

Ex.

1. component : heavy organic
2. MW = 72.5 mole weight
3. Tank normal operating pressure=7" wc(in H2O), operating temperature=120F
4. Normal liquid flow into tank = 50 GPM(Gallon per min)
5. PSV set pressure = 12.5" wc
6. relief pressure / temperature = 14" wc / 120F

But, after I finshed input all the data in Pro II, it give me the error message (in the following)

vapor pressure correlation data is required but missing for component 1
ideal gas enthalp correlation data is required but missing for component 1
vapor thermal conductivity correlation data is required but mssing for component 1
vapor viscosity correlcation data is required but mssing for component 1
liquid thermal conductivity correlcation data is required but mssing for component 1
liquid viscosity correlcation data is required but mssing for component 1
Surface tension correlation data is required but missing for component 1.
For thermodynamic method set 'srk01' the critical temperature is missing for component 1
For thermodynamic method set 'srk01' the critical pressure is missing for component 1.

It seems the enthalpy formation, critical temperature seems to be required to key in the component properties of PRO II

,but I don't know the excatly formation of this heavy orgainc.

Could any pro help me out in this situation?

Thank you so much.

Hi, Instead using the user defined component which asks lots of detailed properties input, you should use petrocomponent for which either two of these three inputs are required to define( as a psuedo component). Those there inputs required are std. specific gravity, Mol.Wt. and Normal Boiling Point and rest all properties are calculated by simulator. Be cautious while using those properties for critical applications like PSV load estimation. Take some margins, proper references rather just using the simulator output. Hope this helps you.

Dear Padmaker
Thank you very much for your help. There is only MW = 72.5, liquid density=47.8lb/ft3, and flash point is great than 100F known in this project, Could you please help me how to get API liquid density from liquid density 47.lb/ft3.

And, the other trouble is that the normal boiling point required to input in the PRO\II is unknown.
So, could I just guess this heavy orgnic is xylene cause xylene' flash point is greater than 100F or
anther better suggestion you have ?

Thank you so much.

Reggards,
