Am in my second part of a design project, I am designing an HCl column within a VCM plant using the balanced process. I would appreciate any books or resources that may be helpful to me in designing the column.

Thank you for your assistance.

You should refer to Distillation design by H.Z. Kister for the detailed design, and distillation dynamics and control by Pradeep B. Deshpanday

ZAK- Thanks for your help.

I have looked at other books as well, but I am somehow stuck on finding operating conditions of the column. Any idea how I could do that in order to find the relative volatilies with regards to Light key and Heavy Key?

Appreciate your assistance.

You can also simulate the Plant on ASPEN PLUS or PROSIM PLUS

Hi,

I have carried out some calculations and am stuck in finding the reflux and number of stages using fenske's equation. I would like to know if I can use the attached equations if my column has liquid and vapour feed since my q will not be equal to 1.

If you have any suggestions on how to go further with or use alternative calculations, please do not hesitate to add in.

Thank you for your assistance.
