Experts,
I am currently working on a compressor adequacy exercise.
I am pretty sure that the compressor characteristic curve provided by the manufacturer ( ICFM vs polytropic head) is independent of the gas molecular weight changes.
i.e. in other words I shall follow the same curves for different molecular weight conditions.
Please correct my understanding or confirm it.
thanks

Sorry GROUP, my apologoes,
just now I found out that the molecular wt. changes will have an effect on the compressor curves, It will change.
I am interested in the nature of change.
So, lets discuss on this more....
Compressors are COMPLEX. hope we all gain something out of this discussion.
thanks

Alok,
Compressors are not complex once you know the thermodynamics of compression. In fact they are a very fascintaing subject. In fact my personal favourite as a subject. There is lots of information available on the forum. Just use the search feature with key words and you will find lots of threads related to compressors.
I will recommend that you acquire the book:
"Compressors: Selection & Sizing" by Royce N. Brown which is one of the best books available on compressors
I have also posted a blog entry on centrifugal compressors related to polytropic efficiency as a function of inlet volume flow at:
http://www.cheresour...et-volume-flow/

Ankur.
