Dear All,

One aviation fuel tank of volume 70 M³ at a filling transfer 40 M³ / Hr is required to be balnketed by nitrogen. 50T fuel to be stored inside the tank. Please suggest , how to calculate the nitrogen gas capacity and how to proceed further ........

At the beginning you should refer to API 2000 for calculating maximum flowrates of normal/thermal inbreathing/outbreathing.

Yes, Fallah is correct. You need to review the standard to see what needs to be considered in the application. You might also review the literature on line. You will find articles available on the internet, including this site and my webpage also.

Thanks for rour comments. As this fuel tank is inside a ship, so please let me know, whether any special consideration is to be taken while designing the system. Please suggest me the link for nitogen blanketing.

Without knowing all the details, the venting mus t be routed to a safe location. Pay close attention to the backpressure created by the piping because it can effect the capacity of the vent by reducing the pressure differential. If the tank is in a temperature controlled area, then their will not be any consideration for temperature variations due to that.
