Dear All,

Please can anybody explain me, How to calculate the tubesheet thickness of an Air cooled heat exchanger.
I know how to do this for a Shell & Tube Heat Exchanger...but I couldn’t find a method for an Air cooler heat exchanger. (For an air-cooled Finned-Tube Heat exchanger -- shape of the tubesheet is rectangular.)

Thanks....

Hi,

I can only give you some clues. You start out using UG-34 of the ASME code which is for unstayed flat heads and covers.. Use a C factor of 0.5. The thickness equation gives you a starting tubesheet thickness for a trial and error solution. You might try to locate a book by Mahajan. He discusses this topic and has an example.
