In our floating roof tank the pumping capacity to the tank has increased to twice the rate of the previous flow.
The inlet nozzle criteria affects the flow. Is it possible to install two inlets to the tank? The present inlet is in the bottom. The old flow to the tank is 640 m3/hr and the new one is 1,350 m3/hr.

deepkarraj,
The inlet nozzle concern might be solved with considring one additional inlet nozzle, but don't you think the main line before inlet nozzle to be effected due to such increase of filling rate, as well?

Dear Fallah
The inlet nozzle size is 10". When considering the rho v2 factor, it comes around 37,000. So, during filling some noise is observed. I have another doubt. Is the floating roof storage tank designed for any specific flow rate? I attach the shell dep with this for the momentum calculation. For this, the flow rate is 1,350 m3/hr, the density is 760 kg/m3, and the inlet nozzle size is 254 mm.

deepkarraj,
If you still meet your line sizing criteria with such increase in flowrate in the main line (of course seems it would be so high for new linear velocity of around 7 m/s), but if you only don't meet the rho*v2 limitations then you may have two inlet nozzle instead one.

Dear fallah
Regarding your previous question, we found a noise problem while filling the tank. We planned to change the upstream line size. The 10" inlet nozzle is only for a length of 10 m. Before that, it is a 12" line. The inlet nozzle size can't be changed, so we planned to introduce another 10" line connected to a spare nozzle.

Dear Fallah
Is floating roof in the tank designed for any specific flow rate.
deepkarraj,
Overall dimentions (diameter, height,...) of any floating roof tank and especially its diameter, could be affected by filling rate, needed storage value,..., due to limitations on falling/rising velocity of such tank's roof.

Dear fallah,
Its capacity: 31,000 m3;
diameter: 43 m;
height: 18.26 m
