Hello!
dear everyone,
I need to make simulation on cane sugar plant, with complete material and energy balances. but I found difficulties at choosing the right software as the flow diagram have many physical process such as sugar mill with water imbibition. another problem is I can't find exact properties and composition of sugarcane as raw material.
So, can anyone tell me what is the software of modelling cane sugar plant?
Thank you for your help

To my knowledge, "Sugars" software may meet your requirements. This software seems to be used by the major sugar companies worldwide according to information on the software vendor's website. For more details and evaluation, please see weblink:

but unfortunately, that software seems to be aimed for professional user only, but unfriendly for academic user. in other word, we have to spend a lot of money to get it.
thats confusing......

From an academic perspective, there is a an online free resource for multiple effect evaporator calculations at the Sugar Library website. Please see the weblink at:

There are some sugar industry equipment sizing online calculations, as well as properties data at the same website also.
Hope this helps you.

Thanks to Mr Sadananda for the information, this would help me but in later time.
for now, my problem still remains at material balances. I try to make calculation manually on MS Excel, that's not the problem. one problem that still confusing me is about the composition of each material, furthermore for each stream.
all right, I'm gonna simplify my question. for now, I extremely need these following information:
1. what is the composition of sugarcane as the raw material of cane sugar? there would be water, a soluble solid matter (fructose, glucose, etc), and insoluble solid as bagasse. all I need is the exact composition of each matter on the sugarcane. In this case, I had ask uncle Google and I get some information but I'm not very sure at what I got. may be you can give me some more valid information about this.
2. How much losses of sugar at milling section usually? or in other term, how many sugar that contain on bagasse?
3. How much sugar losses at clarifier and how much can be recover by rotary vacuum filter?
this all, for a while. thank you if you mind to help.
I would be very happy if anyone give me an example of cane sugar plant material balance calculation especially on excel spreadsheet.
your every help will be very worthy....
