Hi all, I m working with Natural gas pipeline terminal.
After maintenance and re-assembly of the flanges, we do check for leak in flanges by soap water.

Is there any other method for checking leaks in flanges...?
What is the standard method of check...?

Nesamani,

Doing leak check using soap suds is a very standard way of checking for leaks in piping pressurized with air or gas.

Refer the link below on some tips related to using soap suds or soap solution:

http://www.hvacfun.c...s-equipment.htm

Also refer Section 7.6 of the the link provided below:

http://boonchoo.org/...g of Piping.pdf

A gas detector may also be used if the system is pressurized with process gas or hydrocarbon gas as per the link provided above.

Regards,
Ankur.

Yes, leak testing is still done with soap bubbles, however you have to be sure that the soap solution is the right consistency as otherwise bubbles may not get formed (if too thick-I am not joking!). That said you can use ultrasonic devices for testing leaks as well as gas detectors (if you know what gas /vapor is being carried by the pipeline).
