In the context of blanketing requirements for atmospheric and low pressure tanks, my understanding is that blanketing is required for potentially flammable vapor space i.e. tanks containing low flash point or high TVP liquids. Both types are either stored in floating roof tanks or API 620 tanks (if TVP is close to atm pressure)
On the above understanding, can it be said that nitrogen blanketing is required only in API 620 tanks or in internal floating roof if peripheral vents and roof vent are not provided (Section H.5.2.2, API 650)? My understanding is that Cone roof of API 650 type should not require blanketing as there is very low probability of potentially flammable vapor space in them and that is the reason they were selected as fixed roof in first place as they have TVP < 5.2 kPa.
