Dear All,

I have developed an excel spreadsheet for quick estimation of compressor settle out pressure. The spreadsheet is based on a simple method published in Chemical Process Technology magazine. Here is the link you can find the topic. I would like to thank Chemical Process Technology for sharing this resource.

http://webwormcpt.bl...settle-out.html

The spreadsheet is free and can be moved to downloads by Cheresources or Chemical Process Technology if they find this spreadsheet appropriate.

Thanks & Regards
Haseeb Ali

Hi Propacket,

A. There is an additional assumption you have made in your spreadsheet, and it is in the math you use to estimate the settle out temperature.  It is effectively an energy balance but because you do not use the heat capacity also (ie  m.Cp.T) I think you are effectively assuming that the heat capacity is equal for the suction and discharge and mixture conditions.  In reality Cp varies with temperature.

B. I think there is an improvement in accuracy that can easily be made when averaging temperature (such as to get the settle out temperature mentioned above) it is more appropriate to use the temperatures in units K or R, not C or F.  In fact in the article you reference they also have used K.
