Hello dear fellows,
My question is a very naive about gas chiller for LPG recovery.
I m simulating a C3 refrigeration loop, I placed a heater (as a chiller) to converge the loop. Once it is converged I replaced it with heat exchanger in order to bring gas feed for chilling.
After getting it converged i have noticed that both the streams across heat exchangers are hot streams i.e. C3 temperature is also reducing as well as gas stream temperature is also reducing (which is supposed to be chilled).
In any HX one stream is hot and other is cold. it means if Feed gas temperature is lowered than C3 refrigerant temp should rise.

I have kept the C3 outlet stream as -4 F and at bubble point. and condenser outlet temperature as 122F at dewpoint.
Can any one let me know why is that happening,
i m attaching hysys simulation showing both HX and chiller (as heater).

Responses are awaited
Thanks.
First of all, there are no attachments as you mention.
Secondly, your message is full of cryptic symbols - like BB Code; did you do this on purpose?
thirdly, this is obviously a simulation problem and it is in Refining, Oil & Gas Forum. It belongs in the Simulation Forum and that is where I am moving it so it can get the proper attention.

Hi,
Change the extension of the file from .hsc to .doc and upload the same. Let us see where is the issue.

I can understand what you are describing, but i can not work out why.
It feels like you have specified something within the propane loop that is forcing the results you are seeing... i.e. propane stream getting colder.

have you specified a pressure drop across the exchanger on the propane side??
A pressure drop across the exchanger will result in the propane stream cooling.

For propane kettles, the pressure drop on the propane side is specified as 0, as it just considers the vapourising liquid propane.
