Hello All,
In reliquifaction circuit, Reciprocating compressor(Recip) receives condensible gas vapour (Ammonia vapor) with nominal amount of non-condensible at 0.7 kg/cm2g & 5 °C.Recip compresses it upto certain pressure corresponding saturation temperature (say, 17 kg/cm2g & 42 °C.
At the end of compression, compressed gas passes through condenser using cooling water available at 30°C. Thus, vapor ammonia condensation is obtained.
In large fertilizer & petro chemical complex, Vapor ammonia can be used directly at 5 kg/cm2g & 65 °C.
Here, Can we use same Recip with discharge pressure of 10 kg/cm2g (~ 25 °C saturation temperature)releasing vapor ammonia uncondensed from condenser discharge to down stream consumer? Because of low compression ratio,Power saving may be realized immediately. But, my questions are :
1) How will compressor performance be affected?
2) In winter, Cooling water supply remains at ~24 °C . Partial condensation will take place. How much amount of vapor ammonia be released in such cases?
3) I often use self-developed worksheet to estimate amount of vapor release with non-condensible . It is attached for general perusal.
Thanks
DR Dave
