Hi Everyone,

We are facing condensate (liquid) loss in the suction scrubber. The level is operating within safe operating envelop. However, now the level decreases gradually 1-2% day although we tested to close all valves at the liquid line.

Initially I guess gas velocity increases due to reservoir pressure decline. I try to find the root cause for this issue. The suction scrubber was designed to handle the maximum liquid droplet 10microns carried over to gas. Gas was flashed in the 1st Separator and dehydrated in Glycol Contractor before coming to Suction Scrubber and Compressor.

Now I must inject the liquid (condensate) from Export to control the liquid level to prevent the blow-by case.

Does any site have the same issue, please give me some idea/comment.

Many thanks

vnpetroleum,

There may be two reasons behind the issue:

-Outlet lines valves passing the liquid in closed position
-Liquid droplets lower than 10 microns are carried over to gas phase

A question: Didn't you control the liquid level in the scrubber till now?

Thanks for your response Fallah.

I can confirm all outlet valves no passing because I try to close three valves on that line but the level still decrease 1-2% every day then activate the low alarm and trip setting. I must inject the condensate from other location to raise the level above the low alarm.

Yes...now I dont know where the liquid comes to, if a amount of 45 litters/day condensate moves to compressor, it is a big problem.

Please give me some advice to find the root cause or recommend the engineering company can help.

vnpetroleum,

If malfunction of scrubber's demister pad (if any) that not to be able to prevent liquid carry over during reservoir pressure decline couldn't be an issue, then vaporization of the scrubber inventory in such condition (pressure decline) can be the reason of the liquid level downward.
