What is the diff. between Single Wall and Double Wall Atmospheric NH3 Storage Tanks regarding safety issues? I have found two references regarding this point.
1. According to Ammonia Storage:Selection and Safety Issues; G S Lele,Chemical Industry Digest, May 2008: "These designs (single wall) have been used in some plants which have been located far away from populated areas due to safety reasons."
2. According to the Fertilizer Manual, Ref: 36.091.subject.05.25-1.File.2010.issue Date: 99/12/2010. UNIDO and IFDC: "The double-wall tank provides a secondary containment feature for added safety".
So it is obvious there is no restriction of constructing a single wall tank in an Ammonia-Urea complex. For a LSTK project the General Contractor will go for a single wall design for financial reasons.
I need your comments.
