Dear all,

We are using M/s VIZA make 18'' Trunnion mounted ball valves. Planning for overhauling.

Can we use the spares ( O-ring, washer, etc...) of the any other make 18'' ball valve, to replace the spares in M/s VIZA make ball valve...?

Or only the M/s VIZA make valve spares are preferreable, if so why...?

I don’t see any reason to expect that one manufacturer’s ball valve spare seats would be perfectly suited for another manufacturer’s valve. It just doesn’t make practical sense.

The first and most important reason for the above suspicion would be: for the amount of money involved in the price of an 18” trunnion ball valve, how can one take the risk that the seats from a competitor’s valve would be not only suitable, but would be covered by the warranty or service of the original valve manufacturer?

Any operator that has invested in an 18” trunnion ball valve should have a complete storeroom of spare parts for that specific valve from the original manufacturer. It is to be expected as good business and smart operations.
